That one time….

Miles Today; 5

Miles This Week; 5

Tune of the Run; Alex Clare – Too Close

—————————–

So there was this one time …I said I was taking a rest day.

And then I didn’t.

It was 6:30 and I had just got done with my after-work routine of watching too much news to handle. I was bored. I had nothing really to do …no vids to catch up on on Youtube, no blogs to read up on, and I didn’t need to wash my hair (trust me, an all night affair). So ….I suited up and hit the gym for five miles.

I’m crazy. Stupid and crazy. But crazy felt good.

It also helps when you have some new music you want to play into the ground, again. My run felt great. Effortless at times. I’m not sure WHERE this is coming from, but damn, I’ll TAKE IT! I was going stride for stride with the dude on the treadmill next to me for about 3 miles, then he quit. I was like, oh I’m about to show you up buddy!

I felt awesome as I stepped off. I pushed myself a bit ….went about 10 minute miles to close out the 5 at an even 50:00 with a 10 min cooldown. Again, felt like I could have gone another mile or so….this is a good thing!

Lately I’ve been able to run longer without stopping. This was a huge problem for me early in the training, I would chicken out anytime the mileage got higher than three and walk it out. I’m training my brain to understand the pain and enjoy running instead of just walking.

Treated myself to a gatorade from the neighboring Big Lots. So good.

I’ll admit, I’m guilty of running for the sheer satisfaction that I get to jump into compression gear afterwards. Oh well …whatever gets me out there.

And an awesome license plate from my commute to work this morning. GO PENS! I can’t wait for Hockey season!!!!

So yeah ….do as I say, not as I do. You should take your rest days if you feel you need them ….and I felt I did, until I got so bored I drug myself to the gym. Oops. We’ll see if this was a bad decision tomorrow, but for now …I’m cool with it 🙂
